A new term…

September 7, 2009

Dear All,

I hope you had a lovely break/holiday over the summer!

Well, with a new term upon us it is time to start up our meetings again.

For our first meeting, which will be held at Manor Community College (thanks David !), I propose that we have a main session (with guests – anyone ?) followed by 2 sections where techies and teachers split off and talk about requirements. Of course this means that IF you are a techie, you have to bring a teacher, and vice versa.

I will contact David as to a suitable date for us to meet – which most likely be on a MONDAY this year ….. so keep your diaries free !

Thanks again

David Wilson

VLE with SharePoint Site Template

August 27, 2009

Thanks to the scripts and workflows of Richard Willis at SalamanderSoft we’ll have a ‘proper’ VLE inside our sharepoint portal for this academic year just starting!

His script connects to the MIS and automatically handles site creation and permissions.

The site template we’ve made ourselves to be as easy as possible but also to allow teachers and students to try out a range of functionality including blogs, wikis, structured chat and discussion boards.

Support for scorm content is via the sharepoint learning kit.

Microsoft office integration will hopefully mean staff can drop content into their portal sites easily and quickly.

Early days for using SharePoint as VLE but I’ll keep posting on how we get on!

EASN blog page

June 1, 2009

Welcome to our new blog site.

We’ll still be using email and our sharepoint area to communicate with our partner schools but we are turning our top level domain into a blog so that we can all keep each other posted on what’s going on and who is trying out what!
